An easy homemade gift idea for friends or co-workers? Who wouldn’t want to hear about that?! My mom decided to make homemade dried tomatoes for all her volunteers at the nursery home and the results turned out very tasty and also pretty!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 420g cherry tomatoes

  • small amount of sugar

  • small amount of salt

  • 2 -3 cloves of garlic

  • fresh sage and rosemary

  • Oil

Dried you will be left with a 1/6 of the weight (70g = one small jar)

Instructions

  1. Cut tomatoes into sixths and dry them

    1. Drying in the oven: about 4h at 90°C (195°F) or

    2. Dehydrator: 5h at 70°C (160°F)

  2. Cut the garlic into slices and chop the sage and rosemary. Mix everything with the dried tomatoes and add a bit of salt and sugar to taste.

  3. Sterilize the jars. (Pour boiling water into them) Fill the tomato mixture into the jars. Heat up oil but don’t boil it. Pour it over the tomatoes in the jars until they are fully covered. Only close the lid, when the tomatoes are fully covered with oil!
