Upcycling Envelope - Upcycling Couvert
I always find it tricky to find a fitting envelope for any of my cards. I usually don’t want to go with the plain white standard ones but don’t really have any other options. So I figured why not make an envelope myself! I had these cool looking paper placemats at home that looked like an old magazine. We already used them but except for a few water spills in the corner, they looked like new. So I reused the paper and made a fancy up cycled envelope. So here is how you do it:
Ich finde es immer schwierig ein passendes Couvert (Schweizerhochdeutsch für Briefumschlag :-)) für meine Karten zu finden. Meistens möchte ich nicht eines meiner langweiligen, weissen Standard-Couverts benützen, habe aber nicht wirklich andere Optionen. Also machte ich einfach eines selber. Ich hatte diese tollen Papiertischsets, die wie eine alte Zeitung aussahen. Wir hatten sie schon gebraucht, aber bis auf ein paar Wasserflecken in der Ecke waren sie noch wie neu. Also brauchte ich es für ein chices Couvert. So funktioniert es:
Find a nice paper - Finde ein schönes Papier
Fold like in photo to make it into a square - Falte es wie im Bild, damit es zu einem Quadrat wird.
Cut off the left over part from the 2nd photo - Schneide den übrig gebliebenen Teil vom zweiten Foto
Fold two of the edges all the way in to the middle line - Falte zwei der gegenüberliegenden Ecken bis zur Mittellinie.
The new edges you fold up but not all the way to the middle. - Die zwei neuen Ecken die nun entstanden sind faltest du hoch, aber nicht bis zur Hälfte.
This is probably the weirdest step. Push in the sides… - Dies ist wahrscheinlich der komischste Schritt. Falte die Seiten nach innen…
Fold the entire bottom half up. - Falte die ganze untere Hälfte nach oben.
And finished is your envelope. Und das Couvert ist fertig.
Fold the square diagonally both ways and open up again - Falte das Quadrat diagonal in beide Richtungen und öffne es wieder.
Now take the bottom corner and fold it up so it almost touches the other two edges - Nimm die untere Ecke und falte es fast bis zu den anderen zwei hin.
Unfold everything again like in the photo - Öffne wieder alles wie im Bild.
… and try to fold down like it is shown in the photo. It won’t go down super easily. - … und versuche es runter zu falten wie im Foto. Es wird nicht sehr leicht nach unten gehen.
Glue the sides - Leime die Seiten
You can close it wonderfully with a bit of washi tape. - Man kann es wunderbar verschiessen mit ein wenig Washi tape.
