Fondue in the igloo - Fondue im Iglu
This weekend I did one of my favorite snow trips ever. I wasn’t even that excited at first because at this point I kinda got over the snow and was ready for spring. It was one of my friends bachelorette party which was going to take all weekend. We went to Adelboden, Switzerland. It’s a small town in state of Bern. We took a gondola up to Engstligenalp. This is the area you can see on the pictures below.
Dieses Wochenende hatte ich einer meiner besten Winterausflüge. Eigentlich hatte ich mich im Voraus nicht einmal wirklich gefreut, da ich einfach genug vom Schnee hatte. Es war das Polterwochenende von einer meiner Freundinnen. Wir gingen nach Adelboden, BE, Schweiz. Dort nahmen wir eine Gondel nach Engstligenalp.
In Engstligenalp we put our snow shoes on and went on a guided mini snow shoe tour. It was so warm we could walk in our shirts. On top we enjoyed some glühwein and punch.
A little later in the evening we were led into this huge igloo. It’s actually the biggest igloo in Europe. But it wasn’t just big, it was beautifully created and very artistic. They carved trees and snowflakes into the walls and had crystal out of ice. After taking about a hundred pictures, we got to enjoy fondue in the igloo. It was just an amazing experience and I’ve never seen such an incredible thing as this igloo.
Als wir auf Engstligenalp ankamen, schlüpften wir gleich in die Schneeschuhe und starteten eine kleine, geführte Schneeschuhwanderung. Es war so warm, dass wir im T-Shirt gehen konnten. Zu oberst wurden wir mit Glühwein und Punsch verwöhnt.
Ein bisschen später am Abend wurden wir in ein grosses Iglu geführt. Es ist das grösste Iglu in Europa. Aber es war nicht nur gross, es war wunderschön gemacht. In die Wände hatten sie Tannenbäume und Schneeflocken geschnitzt und es gab einen grossen Kristall aus Eis. Nachdem wir ungefähr hundert Fotos gemacht hatten, durften wir ein Fondue im Iglu geniessen.
Random facts about the igloo:
They start building it in December. They blow up giant balloons and snow canons blow snow over it. After letting it sit for one day they let the air out of the balloons and remove them.
It was 2° Celsius (35° F) inside the igloo. (Colder than outside)
They have about 250 guest every night
There is an igloo for an over night sleep as well
Einige Fakten zum Iglu
Das Iglu bauen sie im Dezember. Zuerst blasen sie grosse Ballone auf und die Schneekanonen blasen dann den Schnee um die Ballone. Nach einem Tag wird die Luft rausgelassen und die Ballone entfernt.
Es war 2° C im Iglu. (Kälter als draussen)
Sie haben ungefähr 250 Gäste pro Abend.
