Birthday in Engadin - Geburtstag im Engadin
Dieses Jahr war schon das zweite Jahr in Folge, bei dem ich meinen Geburtstag mit meiner Familie feiern durfte. Das hört sich jetzt wahrscheinlich etwas komisch an… Nun, das Problem mit meinem Geburtstag ist, dass er am 26. Dezember ist, was bedeutet, dass wir mit Famiienpartys beschäftigt sind. Da wir dieses Jahr wegen bekannten Umständen uns nicht mit der grossen Familie treffen konnten, hatten wir deshalb Zeit meinen Geburtstag ausgiebig zu feiern.
Meine Eltern überraschten mich mit einem Ausflug ins Engadin, was etwa 1.5 Stunden von uns entfernt ist. Dort gingen wir in das Mineralbad in Samedan, welches einfach genial ist. Das Bad ist über drei Stockwerke verteilt und jeder Raum hat ein eigenes Farbkonzept. Vom Dampfbad, Heissbad und Aussenbad bis zu sehr gemütlichen Ruheräumen kann man dort alles finden. Es gibt sogar gratis Tee, Sirup und Wasser zum Konsumieren. Einer der Ruheräume ist mit gut duftendem Arvengeschmäckern ausgestattet und hat eine wunderbare Aussicht auf Samedan. Die Räume sind so gemütlich, dass ich sogar einschlief!
Nach dem Bad fuhren wir noch an den gefrorenen St. Moritzersee, genossen den Sonnenuntergang und feine Weihnachtsguetzli. Die Stimmung am See war atemberaubend und ich genoss meinen Geburtstag in vollen Zügen.
This year was the second in a row where I got to spend my birthday with my family. I know… I know, that might sound a little weird… But you see, my birthday is on December 26th and usually we spend the day with tons of family celebrating Christmas. While I love seeing all my aunts, uncles and cousins, I always miss having this special time just for me. Due to the special circumstances we all know, we weren’t allowed to gather this year, so my parents had a special surprise planned for me:
We went on a 1.5 hour drive to Engadin, a valley in the very south east of Switzerland with tons of snow. There we enjoyed a few hours in the spa in Samedan, which was incredible. The bath expands over three floors and every room has a special color concept. You can find anything from steam baths, hot baths and outdoor baths to super cozy rest lounges. They even serve free tea, sirup (like uncarbonated soda) and water. One of the rest areas totally smells like Swiss pine and offers an amazing view on Samedan. The rooms were so cozy, that I even fell asleep!
After the spa we drove a few minutes to the St. Moritzersee, the lake by St. Moritz, and enjoyed the sunset and yummy Christmas cookies. The atmosphere at the lake was incredible and I really enjoyed my birthday!!
