Explore Boston – Freedom Trail & More

This summer Josh and I were lucky enough to go and travel on the East Coast. Two of our friends live only about 1 hour away from Boston so we got to spend some time at their place and see Boston and the area in the meantime.
This post is about our 1 day trip to Boston and all the things you can do and see there. The week before Boston we spent in New York City, which I am sharing here.
Boston:
I honestly was surprised how small Boston was, since all the other US cities I’ve experienced so far are Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. I guess I just kinda chose some of the bigger ones… It also surprised me how much US history is hidden in Boston. To be honest, I don’t really know a great deal about the past times and how the US was founded. I know little bits and pieces but I think I should probably do some reading to align all my puzzle pieces in the right way…
I might also have to mention that our friends, who showed us everything, had two twin boys of 3 months with them, so that might have influenced our trip there a bit…
Freedom trail
Anywho, we started our trip in the Public Garden. I really, really liked it there. I always love to see gardens, but this time the flowers and the layout with the lake was just so well done that I highly recommend going there!
Then we went on to walk along Freedom Trail. It is a path through the old town of the city along lots of historical buildings such as old meeting houses, churches and museums. The trail is supposed to tell you more about the American history. I was definitely surprised by the amount of history condensed into the small place. There are also a lot of old buildings, although as a European, they are still pretty newish. You will see old breweries, bakeries and even the place where they make traditional Cannolis. Make sure you get a taste of them at Mike’s Pastry!
