Swiss Outdoor Museum - Ballenberg

Two days ago my husband and I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Swiss Outdoor Museum called “Ballenberg”. It is an open-air museum that displays traditional buildings and architecture from all over the country. With that you get to see a huge amount of Swiss culture and life as it used to be in the 20th century. From the hair dresser, school and drug store to the sewing rooms, old fashioned toilets and charcoal making, you can find it all. The surroundings are just as interesting as the inside of the houses. There are lots of animals, fruit trees and beautiful gardens. It is an amazing place to learn more about how life was not too long ago but also to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. If you happen to stay in Switzerland for a while this is definitely worth a visit, doesn’t matter if you have kids or not. And since you are in the beautiful area of “Berner Oberland” you might as well check out Lake Brienz and Lake Thun.

Vor zwei Tagen hatten mein Mann und ich die Gelegenheit zum Schweizer Freilichtmuseum Ballenberg zu gehen. Das Openair Museum zeigt viele ursprüngliche, originale Schweizer Gebäude, alte Handwerke, Gärten und auch Tiere. Bei einem Besuch im Museum lernt man so Einiges über Schweizer Kultur und das Leben, wie es im 20. Jahrhundert war. Vom Coiffeur, der Schule und Drogerie bis hin zu Nähzimmern, alte Toiletten und Kohlenproduktion, kann man alles finden. Die Umgebung ist genauso spannend wie das Innere der Häuser. Es gibt viele Tiere, Nutzpflanzen und wunderschöne Gärten. Es ist ein genialer Platz um mehr über das Leben vor nicht zu langer Zeit zu lernen und auch um sich einfach in der schönen Natur zu entspannen. Falls ihr in der Schweiz wohnt, oder zu Besuch seid, ist es definitiv einen Ausflug Wert. (Mit der Raiffeisen Member Plus Karte ist der Eintritt sogar gratis.) Und da ihr schon in der Gegend seid, können wir nur einen Abstecher and den Thuner- oder Brienzersee empfehlen.
