Christmas Market - Weihnachtsmarkt
We finally made it to the Christmas market in Zurich. I actually put it in my husbands advent calendar because he loves the market so much. So Saturday was the day when it was going to happen. We left around 5PM and took the train to Zurich. We first took a look at the market inside Main Station where they set up a huuuge Swarovski Christmas tree. The tree was full of jewels and super shiny. Next we walked along the Limmat, a river, to see all the Christmas lights. From there we enjoyed a stroll though the old town called Niederdörfli. Eventually we passed by the first booths and bought delicious food. Funny enough it was called a <Philly Cheese Sandwich> which according to my husband wasn’t the same as the real thing but still very delicious.
Even though they sell a lot of food from all over the world and lots of Glühwein, there are a few booths with crafted goods. At one of them they sold chocolate tools. I was very surprised at the huge amount of detail and how real it all looked. (Picture 2)
As our last stop we went to the opera house where they have the big market. Our favorite part was the old town though, simply because there are a little less people and you actually get to enjoy the food and booths.
Endlich haben wir es auch noch an den Weihnachtsmarkt in Zürich geschafft. Alles war natürlich geplant bis ins kleinste Detail, ich hatte es nämlich in den Adventskalender meines Mannes gesteckt. Am Samstag also geschah es. Wir starteten um 17 Uhr und fuhren nach Zürich. Als erstes wollten wir natürlich einen Blick auf den riesigen Swarovski Weihnachtsbaum im Hauptbahnhof werfen, was sich wegen der vielen Leute als nicht so einfach herausstellte. Als nächstes liefen wir der Limmat nach um die tolle Weihnachtsdeko zu betrachten und bewegten uns dann in die Altstadt, das Niederdörfli. Nach einer Weile kamen wir an den ersten Ständen vorbei und kauften uns eine warme Mahlzeit.
Auch wenn sie hauptsächlich viel Essen und Glühwein verkaufen, hat es trotzdem erstaunlich viele Non-Food Stände. So auch einer der Schokoladenwerkzeuge verkaufte. Diese waren sehr detailliert und sahen wahnsinnig echt aus. (Foto 2)
An unserem letzten Stopp gingen wir bis zum Opernhaus, wo der grosse Teil des Marktes stattfindet. Unser Lieblingsteil jedoch war die Altstadt, da es einfach viel weniger Leute dort hatte und man die Stände wirklich geniessen konnte.
