Holiday Brownies Shaped Like Stars
A few weeks ago I was making brownies and as I was scooping the dough into the form I was wondering if I could make cookies out of brownies?! A rainy Sunday later it was time to start the experiment. My favorite brownie mixture comes from the major Swiss grocery store chain, “Migros”. I have found it creates a pretty gooey batter which was ideal to make cookies. I cooled the dough for an extra hour so it would become more formable and less sticky. I used a cookie cutter to make star shaped cookies and voila - the brownie Christmas cookies were finished!
Recipe:
Premade brownie mixture which creates a gooey batter
flour
cookie cutter
Instructions:
Prepare the brownies according to the recipe on the mixture. My recipe mentioned adding 2 tsp of water which I left off so the dough would be even firmer. If the measurements are different for you, you might try removing a little bit of liquid. (Picture 1)
Wrap the finished dough in saran wrap (Picture 2) and let the dough cool in the fridge for about an hour. This makes the dough harder and less sticky.
Spread a bit of flour on the counter top. Set the batter onto it and flatten it slightly with your hand. Place the saran wrap over it and flatten the dough to one centimeter thickness. (0.4inch). (Picture 3) Use a cookie cutter to get the cookies into the right shape. Place them on a baking tray with parchment paper. Keep going until you’ve used up all the dough. (Picture 4 + 5)
Let the cookies cool for another 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200°C with fan. (400°F). Bake the cookies for 7 - 9 minutes. They will still be pretty soft to the touch when removing them from the oven. Let them cool down on the tray for 2 minutes then move them onto a cooling rack. Brownie-Christmas-Cookies taste great combined with vanilla ice cream!
