January decoration - Januardeko

I find it one of the hardest things to decorate for winter after Christmas is over. There aren’t really any flowers or it is too early to take the tulips back out of the boxes. At the same time I want to get rid of all the Christmas things. The pine branches are dry and I got sick of the ornaments.

So I tried to come up with an idea and thought of Eucalyptus. I quickly went an bought some at the local flower store. A good bunch only cost 10 Swiss franks. (If that seems like a lot to you, I have to explain that life in Switzerland is expensive.)

I loved the idea of decorating in only white and green this time, so I decided to paint some food cans white. Make sure you sand everything before you start, so the paint sticks to the can.

I really love how it all turned out and that I found a way of creating a non-Christmasy winter decor.

Eines der schwierigsten Dinge finde ich immer neu zu dekorieren, wenn Weihnachten vorbei ist. Es gibt noch keine Blumen und es ist zu früh um die Tulpen aus der Kiste zu holen. Gleichzeitig bin ich die Weihnachtsdeko leid und möchte keine Christbaumkugeln mehr sehen.

Also versuche ich mit einer Januardeko aufzukommen und dachte an Eukalyptus. Ich kaufte schnell einen Bund im Blumenladen und war überrascht, dass das Grün nur 10 Franken kostete.

Ich hatte den Gedanken alles in weiss und grün zu machen. Dazu bemalte ich Büchsen mit weisser Farbe. Ich mag das Endergebnis sehr und bin froh, dass ich endlich eine nicht-weihnachtliche Winterdekoration gefunden habe.
