Midsummer flower crown - Midsummer Blumenkrone

Last week my mom and I were invited to help out with decorations for a midsummer themed party. Only this time we didn’t have to decorate a table or walls, we had to garnish people. Every women attending the festivities got to make her own flower crown and wear it afterwards. I loved the idea and it turned out looking amazing! The ladies really enjoyed creating something as a break from all the party small talk.

Making the flower crowns is very easy. Actually a lot of the women on the party thought they couldn’t do it, but once they started, they realized it wasn’t to difficult.

What you need:

• Stiff wire about 80 cm long (31 inches)

• Green, sticky band to wrap around the wire (so the flowers don’t slip off)

• Flowers (you can pretty much use any flower you like, smaller ones are easier (you might not want to put a full hydrangea on your head)

• Wire to attach the flowers

• 60 cm (24 inches) of ribbon

Instructions:

1. Wrap the sticky band around the wire and cover it all.

2. Attach 30 cm of the ribbon to the end of your wire.

3. Cut off flowers about 8cm long (3 inches) and put them together as a small “bouquet”. Then take the wire and attach the mini-bouquet to the stiff wire. (Flower heads facing towards the ribbon) Now just keep on adding new flowers and wrap the wire around until the entire stiff wire is full.

4. Attach the other half of the ribbon to the end of your crown. Now you can tie it to your head and position it as you like.

Letztes Wochenende wurden meine Mama und ich angefragt für ein Fest mit dem Thema “Midsummer” zu dekorieren. Nur mussten wir dieses Mal keine Tische oder Wände verzieren, sondern die Leute selber. Jede Frau, die an der Party teilnahm, durfte sich eine eigene Blumenkrone machen und diese natürlich danach tragen. Es sah einfach wunderschön aus, als jede Frau diese Krone trug! Die Frauen selber genossen auch die Pause vom Partysmalltalk und dass sie etwas Kreatives machen konnten.

Die Blumenkronen zu machen ist sehr einfach. Zuerst waren die meisten Frauen unsicher, aber als sie dann mit der Arbeit begannen, realisierten sie, dass es gut machbar war.

Material:

• Ca. 80 cm steifer Draht

• Grünes, klebriges Band (damit die Blumen nicht vom Draht rutschen)

• Blumen (es gehen fast alle Sorten dafür, kleinere sind aber einfacher (Ihr wollt ja wahrscheinlich keine ganze Hortensie auf dem Kopf)

• Draht zum Umwickeln

• Ca. 60 cm Geschenksband

Anleitung:

1. Den steifen Draht mit dem Klebeband vollständig umwickeln.

2. 30 cm des Geschenksbandes am einen Ende des steifen Drahtes anmachen.

3. Ca. 8 cm lange Blumen abschneiden und diese zusammen zu einem “Mini-Sträusschen” legen. Dieses kleine Sträusschen dann am steifen Draht mit Draht anmachen. (Die Blumenköpfe schauen zum Geschenksband) Nun immer weitere Blumen hinzulegen und mit dem Draht befestigen bis die Krone fertig ist.

4. Am Ende der Krone die andere Hälfte des Bandes anmachen. Nun die Krone hinten am Kopf zuknöpfen und richtig positionieren.
