Agave decor - Agaveblatt-Deko

We had the awesome opportunity to go on vacation to Elba, an island off the west coast of Italy. We enjoyed an amazing time with friends, hiking and biking all day long. On our nature trips we found so many amazing treasures. Such as exotic plants, nuts and flowers that aren’t native to Switzerland. You can see them in the first photo down below. We made quite a few stops to forage for these little goods. I really encourage you to pick up amazing finds when you’re outside. We have been able to use so much of it for decor and gifts. Most of these treasures would cost a fortune in the decor stores. Instead you can find them for free!

This time we used an Agave leaf and filled it with the precious finds and dried hydrangeas. All you need is a Agave leaf, wire and things to fill the leaf with. Once the things are out of season or dried you can always swap them out for new stuff.

Tie the wire around the Agave leaf and then start filling it with all your treasures. (Picture 1 - 3)
Once you filled a couple inches you will want to wrap the wire around it so the things don’t fall out of the leaf. You can also be a little chaotic with the wire meaning it can totally be crossed and stuff. (Picture 4 - 5)
Tip for filling: Try to use odd numbers. In the photo you can see the orange Physalis. Since they really stand out, I chose to use 5 of them because that’s more pleasing to the eye than four or six.
Once you near the tip of the leaf you will want to go smaller, so the eye can still see the shape of the leaf. (Picture 6)
To finish you can tie the wire together in the back of the leaf. Be careful with all the thorns while you’re working on it. (Picture 7)

Wir hatten die tolle Gelegenheit für die Herbstferien nach Elba in Italien zu gehen. Wir genossen die Zeit mit Freunden, wandern und biken. Auf unseren Touren fanden wir allerhand schöne Schätze auf der Insel. Pflanzen, Nüsse und Blumen, die es hier nicht gibt. Ihr seht sie alle im ersten Foto unter dem Text. Wir stoppten einige Male um neue Sachen zu sammeln. Ich kann euch wirklich nur ermutigen, die Augen nach schönen Natursachen offen zu halten und diese zu sammeln! Im Dekoladen werden sie ein kleines Vermögen kosten und ihr könnt sie gratis finden!

Dieses Mal benutzten wir ein Agavenblatt und füllten es mit unseren mitgebrachten Schätzen und getrockneten Hortensien. Alles was ihr für diese Arbeit braucht ist ein Agavenblatt, Draht und Dinge um das Blatt zu füllen. Wenn die Sachen getrocknet oder nicht mehr saisonal sind könnt ihr sie einfach mit Neuem austauschen.

Den Draht um das Agavenblatt wickeln und verknoten. Dann mit füllen beginnen. (Bild 1 - 3)
Sobald einige Zentimeter gefüllt sind die Sachen mit Draht befestigen. Dabei kann der Draht auch überkreuzt werden. (Bild 4 - 5)
Tipp zum Füllen: Brauche ungerade Anzahlen. Beim Foto seht ihr die orangen Physalis. Ich entschied mich fünf zu benutzen, da sie sehr herausstechen und es für das Auge besser aussieht, wenn es fünf sind und nicht vier oder sechs.
Wenn ihr zu der Spitze kommt, müsst ihr ein wenig feiner schmücken und füllen, damit die Form des Blattes immer noch zur Geltung kommt. (Bild 6)
Am Ende den Draht auf der Rückseite des Blattes verknoten. Seid vorsichtig mit den Dornen der Agaven während der Arbeit! (Bild 7)
