Herbal Wreath

Once more it is that beautiful time where everything in the garden sprouts and blooms. Not only the berries and tomatoes can be harvested and enjoyed to the fullest but also the herbs are doing well. Sometimes even a bit too well, as they are taking over the entire patch. To prevent you from having to throw away the excess herbs I am sharing this easy DIY with you - an herbal werath!

Material:

  • herbs from the garden (ideally something with lots of volume like rosemary or sage)

  • Echinacea (ours don’t have petals anymore because we use it for our homemade tea)

  • Wire

  • Different sorts of ribbons

  • A decorative paper or an old rusty key

Instructions:

  1. Make a small “bouquet” in your hands, using sage and rosemary. Then wrap the wire around it to attach it all. Take new sage, rosemary and occasionally Echinacea and lay it onto the stems of the bouquet. Attach the new plants to it and keep going like this until the wreath reaches the size you want. Usually there happens to be a pretty upper side, make sure the flowers are seen on that side. Attach the end to the beginning and tie a know into the wire and hide it.

  2. Cut the ribbon, make sure they are long and tie them around the wreath. Sometimes you can cover up a less nice are like the beginning and end with the ribbon. Attach the decor paper or the key to the wreath.

  3. Lay the wreath onto a table as a table decor or hang it on a door or window.
