Are you on TikTok? I have to admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of it when it came out. It simply seemed like there was a lot of superficial content and not much to learn from. Maybe it’s my teacher heart, but I feel like I always have to be able to learn something from any content I consume. I know, it is quite the expectation. Now, on the other side I’ve been a frequent user of Pinterest. I love how many ideas I can find there. So how do these two relate, you’re asking? Well, something changed my mind about TikTok. Slowly I started noticing more and more TikTok videos on Pinterest. Most of the time they were videos explaining some really cool art done on Procreate. And to learn how they did it, I didn’t have to watch a 20 minute video. I could simply see everything I needed to know in 60 seconds. I realized that the platform has a lot of potential in this way too and that I might have judging it a little too quickly.
Anywho, this art piece was inspiered by a TikTok video where I learned how to work with clipping masks and layers.
Bist du auf TikTok? Ich muss gestehen, ich war zuerst gar nicht von der App überzogen. Es schien mir einfach, als ob es nur oberflächliche Videos darauf habe und nicht viel zu lernen. Vielleicht ist es die Lehrerin in mir, aber ich habe irgendwie den Anspruch, dass ich aus jedem Video etwas lernen möchte. Ich weiss, hohe Erwartungen… Auf der anderen Seite, bin ich aber eine fleissige Pinterest-Nutzerin. Ich liebe alle Ideen, die ich dort finde. Wie hängt das jetzt zusammen, fragst du? Well, etwas hat meine Meinung zu TikTok verändert. Mehr und mehr fand ich Videos der Plattform auf Pinterest. Die meisten waren zu tollen Handletterings oder Zeichnungen, die jemand auf Procreate machte. Um zu lernen, wie sie das machten, musste ich nicht erst ein 20 minütiges Video anschauen, sondern konnte alles in 60 Sekunden lernen! Ich realisierte, dass TikTok also trotzdem auch einige Vorteile in diesem Bereich haben kann und dass ich vielleicht etwas zu schnell über die App gerichtet habe.
