A Guide to Sedona
Sedona from Bell Rock
Sedona
What a stunning, breathtaking, astonishing, spectacular, thrilling, incredible place Sedona is! Just the drive to get into town coming from Phoenix was out of this world! Right and left you are surrounded by red mountains partially covered in green bushes. The blue sky painted an amazing contrast to the red and green and obviously I was practically glued to my camera. If you get the time to stop by, I highly recommend you’d do so!
Where we stayed
We were travelling with a budget and so we chose to stay at Green Tree Inn Sedona. They offered a great room, breakfast, and even a pool and hot tub for all the guests for a very fair price. The place is very close to the town center, and we can recommend staying there.

Activities
Our first activity was lunch with family friends up by the airport. Nearby you can go to the Airport Mesa and get an amazing view on the entire valley by just walking up a rock for 5 minutes. We went there a second time later in the day to watch the sunset. A great spot as you can see in all directions, and you get to relax on the flat rocks and just enjoy the end of the day.
On our drive up to Sedona we saw Bell Rock and we had to get back to it. We parked in the parking area and just walked along the path. We didn’t end up climbing the rock as it was a very hot day, and it would have been too much. We enjoyed seeing the red sand, rocks, the cacti, and prickly pear, and all the green bushes and gnarly trees.
Our next stop was the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a church that was built into the rocks. The matching color of the walls pairs it greatly with nature. We parked and walked up to see the inside of the church. There’s lots of parking nearby and they also offer the free option of driving you up to the church with golf carts. The inside of the church is very simple and through the front window you get to see nature again.
We stayed in Sedona for one day and would have liked to do a few more things like seeing Devil’s Bridge, Red Rock State Park, and Slide Rock State Park as they looked very interesting too. Unfortunately, we had to head on, because we still had quite a ways to go to get to Texas and a more few National Parks to see. You can read more about our trip here.
