The Easiest Herb Breadsticks Recipe
This week’s post is a collaboration! The writing comes from me (Ladina), but the recipe, the idea, and the cooking all come from my little sister. She spent the weekend at our place and made us these delicious pastry dough bread sticks as an appetizer. As she was cooking I got to snag a few photos from the process and then even had the opportunity to do a big photo shoot of the final product. The bread sticks turned out so tasty, that I don’t want to hold off the recipe from you, so here you go!
The recipe is very easy and quick to make, so you don’t have to spend a long time on making the appetizers when you are cooking for guests.
Recipe for 4 people:
Ingredients:
1 rectangular pastry dough
30g of grated Sbrinz or Parmesan
3 tbsp of coarse salt
2 tbsp of dried or fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary
1 tbsp of paprika powder
Instructions:
Prepare a baking tray with parchment paper. Cut the pastry dough into 2cm wide strips. (Picture 1) Then take the strip and twist it and place it on the baking tray. (Picture 2 + 3) Do so with the entire dough. Leave enough space between the twisted dough as the strips will rise in the oven.
Brush the dough strips with water. Then sprinkle the coarse salt and herbs over half the strips. (Picture 4 + 5) On the other half you sprinkle the cheese and paprika. Make sure the sticks are thoroughly covered in cheese. Let them cool in the fridge or outside for about 30min. This prevents them from rising too much and falling out of shape while baking.
Bake the bread sticks at 170°C (340°F) for 20 minutes. Take them out of the oven and then place them on a cooling rack. Enjoy!
