A Birthday Full of Surprises
My dad’s birthday was on the weekend and in my family we have a tradition of planning an exciting birthday adventure which is to be kept a surprise for the birthday child. Usually we are all just as excited for the birthday as the person themselves, because we love all our planned activities.
This weekend’s program was full and took up the entire day but we enjoyed every minute of it!
The first activity was brunch at my place including plain and chocolate waffles, a charcuterie board, and lots of fruit and coffee.
Then it was time for the gifts. I sewed an apron for my dad and made my own design to print on the apron. I drew the words on the iPad on the Procreate app and then cut it out of heat transfer foil on my Silhouette plotter. The design then simply had to be “melted” onto the fabric and my customized gift was finished! My dad was very excited about it!
Shortly after, we left for a hike up Uetliberg. It was my parents first time on Zurich’s famous mountain and they were surprised by the amount of mountains visible from up there. On top we ate my home made Black Forest cake. (You can find the recipe here)
After the hike, we quickly took a shower at home and got ready for a nice dinner in Zurich at the Riithalle. A hall that used to be a horse stable full with horse stalls that has since been turned into a restaurant. You can still see some of the original beams though which gives the place such a unique look! The food was delicious as well!
To end the day we ascended 35 floors to the top of Prime Tower to have a drink in the Clouds bar. From up there you get a great view on Zurich at night!
The birthday was a huge success and I can’t wait for the next family member’s special day!
