Summer Dining by the Rhine
I loooooove eating outside! Doesn’t matter if the sweat is dripping down my back or I need a jacket to stay out, I just enjoy the fresh air while eating. Even better if we get to do this at a beautiful location. One of my favorite places are the sand banks by The Rhine River. We usually take an old grill and some wood out so we can BBQ chicken or horse meat (yes, we eat that in Switzerland and it’s legal) The meat then gets put in between two bread buns with some cocktail sauce and a few tomatoes. As a side we enjoy chips, sour apple cider or a beer.
The sand banks are wonderful and exciting as there is always something new to discover such as; special rocks, getting better at rock skipping (I can do 3 skips now!!!) or simply dipping the feet into the icy Rhine River. (In the Rhine valley where we were, The Rhine is a bit too cold and the current too strong for swimming).
I can definitely recommend packing some food and going out for lunch or dinner! You can even order a pizza to the place you’re staying at!
