Swiss-Style Sweet Dampfnudeln
Dampfnudeln - It’s a Swiss sweet dish. It’s a bread roll that you eat with vanilla sauce. There is also a German version of Dampfnudel but it is quite different. If you are curious about the German version you can click here:

Recipe for 4 people:
Ingredients
Dough:
225 g flour
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
10 g yeast, crumbled
1 dl milk, warm
30 g butter, liquid
1 egg, beaten
Sauce (not vanilla sauce):
1 dl milk
1 dl cream
2 tbsp sugar
½ package vanilla sugar
Instructions:
Dough: Mix flour, salt and sugar and make a hole in the middle. Dissolve yeast in milk and pour into hole with the butter and the egg. Mix until the dough is even. Let the dough rise until it doubles its size.
Sauce: Mix all ingredients. Pour half of it into the baking dish. Make 6 -7 dough balls and lay them int the sauce. Cover the dish and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Dampfnudeln in the oven at 400° F for 30-35 minutes.
Separate the bread buns with a fork so and pour the second half of the sauce in between. Bake for another 5 minutes.
Serve Dampfnudeln with vanilla sauce.
